Teen Skills Group Therapy Program

Teen Skills Group Therapy

What is the goal of the Teen Skills Group?

Teen skills group is a combination psychoeducation & process group. The goal of this group is to facilitate clients in learning to accept feelings and at the same time learn ways of constructively expressing feelings and managing them in a healthy way. Facilitating development of skills in emotion identification and regulation, as well as safety planning & self-care skills to foster mental and emotional wellbeing.

Why should my teen join a group?

Groups provide support from people who are dealing with similar issues, and this can provide relief and hope to the participants of the group. Groups can also provide a safe sounding board for our concerns and give us the opportunity to learn about ourselves through the healthy feedback of others. We can learn coping skills not just from a facilitator but from other group members, allowing us to have more than one perspective to consider. Being around a group of your peers with similar mental health goals can also motivate us forward in our own journey. Groups can help us increase our social skills and build healthy support networks and decrease feelings of isolation. Lastly, sharing our experiences with others can be healing. It can helps us to gain understanding, compassion and validation from others, while processing our experiences in a healthy way allowing us to move forward in our healing.

When and where will this group take place?

This group will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30pm. Group meetings will be in the Ark building, the small church building at the front of the New Creation parking lot.
